DocuSign alternative

The one that doesn't count your envelopes.

DocuSign allows 100 envelopes per user per year on both its Standard and Business Pro plans. That's about two a week, and running out is how most people discover the limit exists. MostlySign has no per-envelope cap on any paid plan — and never will.

Envelope / document cap None on paid plans. Free sends 3 a month. 100 per user per year on Standard and Business Pro; 5 a month on Personal.
Free plan Yes — 3 documents a month, forever, no card. No permanently free plan.
Entry price $0, then $12/mo for unlimited documents. Paid from the first document.
Team price $29/mo flat, 10 seats included. Per user, per month — ten people is ten licences.
Sealed & timestamped Every completed document: PAdES seal + RFC 3161 timestamp + certificate of completion. Yes — DocuSign seals completed envelopes too.
Verifying a signed PDF Standards-based — check it in Adobe Reader or the EU DSS validator. Also standards-based. DocuSign retired its own validator in favour of exactly this.
Depth of platform Signing, done carefully. No CLM, no notarization, no ID verification. Deeper — CLM, notarization, identity verification, a large integration catalogue.

Straight talk

When you should just buy DocuSign.

A compare page that says the competitor is bad at everything is a compare page you can't trust. DocuSign is the category leader for good reasons, and there are jobs it does that we deliberately don't:

You need identity proofing or notarization
Knowledge-based authentication, government-ID checks, remote online notarization. We don't do any of it, on purpose.
You need qualified signatures (QES)
If your regulator specifically requires eIDAS qualified or advanced signatures, that's a different product. Ours are standard electronic signatures.
You need contract lifecycle management
Clause libraries, negotiation, renewals, obligation tracking. We sign documents; we don't manage their whole life.
You need a specific deep integration
DocuSign's integration catalogue is enormous and years ahead. If your workflow depends on one of them, that's a real reason to stay.

What's left is the common case: you send agreements for signature, you want them legally binding and provable later, and you'd rather not be metered for it. That's the case we built for.

What every document carries.

The same on the free plan as on the paid ones — the proof isn't the upsell.

A full audit trail
Sent, opened, viewed, consented, signed — each to the second in UTC, with the IP it came from, printed on a certificate of completion that travels inside the PDF.
A real cryptographic seal
A PAdES digital signature over the finished bytes, plus an RFC 3161 timestamp from an independent authority. Edit one character afterwards and the seal breaks, visibly.
Proof that leaves with you
Check a signed document in Adobe Reader or at the European Commission's EU DSS validator. How the seal works, including the one caveat we'd rather state than have you discover.

Send one and see.

Three documents a month, free, forever. No card, no trial clock, and the same seal and audit trail the paid plans get.
